Life on the road

It's a holiday weekend here and our last weekend in the States that doesn't have some kind of event planned for it. So yesterday e dropped the dog off at a Daycare center that's now looking more like Southfork than it is the usual cement shed and headed 155 miles across State - first to Holland, MI with its windmills, ye olde Dutch attractions and hoards of 'trying not to look disappointed' Japanese. Still we managed to get some Dutch food and some 'baby sprinkles' for a shower that Jude was attending today.

From Holland we went down to Oval Beach - which was disappointing in that it was cold, narrow, packed with people and lacked any kind of personality... but still, it was on the way to Saugernauk (or something) which proved to be a charming little lakeside town with some rather splendid boutiques....

170 miles home and off with some friends for Dinner... then on to a bar famed for its dueling pianists... a lot of base fun had there and a bunch of bachelorette parties who lived for the photo. There's a business to be had in shooting bachelorette parties. Not sure it's a business for someone of my advanced years but the chance to have them all line up with their backs to me facing the bar's vintage trough urinal had me salivating in a way that a 100 year old, claw footed, free standing piss trough shouldn't.

Not a bad day at all... and now for posh BBQ in Detroit with a very persistent (thankfully) old friend
