We were supposed to hit the gym last night - but instead we both lay on the sofa nursing various injuries and ailments and generally indulging in the healing power of 'Competition Reality' TV.
On the list at the moment we have Beauty and the Geek, America's Next Top Model, Top Chef, Last Restaurant Standing, Farmer Wants a wife (kinda), Hell's Kitchen and American Idol (oh and Dancing with the Stars).
Sweat, tantrums and sequins abound on our TV ---> but when you're wiped out by training, allergies and odd swellings then it's not a bad place to be.
Had an 'effectiveness tracking' company in at work who told us that people were attentive during Top Chef but not during Idol. Which is weird as she then showed that people had better recall of what went on in the breaks on Idol than anything else.
My theory, that when the numbers of contestants are high Top Chef splits people into teams and gives each team significant screen time on a single task - whereas Idol has 12 people, 12 critiques and 12 songs to remember,,, making recall of any one harder seemed to fall on ears deafened by too much time in Excel and not enough on bus.
